Most's MP leveled serious accusations about illegal waste in Gospić and Benkovac on RTL Direkt, linking C.I.O.S. Group companies to dumping, while the journalist distanced himself from the new information.
Most's MP Zvonimir Troskot appeared on Wednesday on RTL Direkt with journalist Ivan Skorin, where he made a series of serious accusations about illegal waste dumping in Gospić and Benkovac. The conversation culminated with a question about whether Troskot was spreading panic and being populist, to which the MP responded with a counter-question about the rise in cancer rates.
Environment and Green Transition Minister Marija Vučković stated on RTL Danas that the legal deadline for the external part of the waste is one year, while the buried waste will be given significant attention in the procurement process. Troskot responded by claiming that Most had sent official requests back in February 2026 through the information commissioner and to Komunalac Gospić, namely Dado Milinović and Minister Vučković.
According to Troskot, official responses with data from the e-ONTO card confirmed that paper was present and unloaded in Gospić. "Only paper. And what she says on television is a blatant nonsense because Gospić contains a toxic PFAS cocktail mixed with PAH oil, cyanides, and heavy metals, which no incineration plant or landfill anywhere in Europe wants to accept," Troskot said.
Responding to Prime Minister Andrej Plenković's claim that remediation cannot be done faster because Croatia lacks both companies and locations, Troskot warned of the danger of so-called greenwashing. "If there is a rush to remediate due to political pressure, there is a great danger of greenwashing. In other words, a company would be paid for the cleanup. Croatian citizens, who are already paying with their lives, would foot the bill. They would transport the waste to a third-world country, such as Indonesia or an African nation," he said.
He cited deep burial in barrels and containers underground as the only correct solution, comparing it to nuclear waste remediation. "That is the path we discussed with esteemed professors from Europe who deal with this type of waste, which is extremely infectious and dangerous," he added.
Troskot also made claims about the connection between the company Cezar, part of Petar Pripuz's C.I.O.S. Group, and waste dumping. He noted that Minister Vučković had publicly said she did not know individuals from Kemis-Termoklin and Cezar, but that on December 31, 2026, she spoke with Željko Teufel, a member of Cezar's management board.
"I think it was former Minister Holy who said that Cezar dumped waste 20 years ago, only to reappear now as the remediation contractor," Troskot said. He added that Cezar was one of the key players in illegal waste dumping in Benkovac, carried out with Šincek through their company Cios Cargo.
When Troskot began linking the case to Paško and Franciska Dodić and the company Cezar, journalist Skorin distanced himself. "I must distance myself from these new pieces of information you have presented. We haven't seen any of this emerge during the USKOK investigation; all we've learned so far is what has leaked. So, I must distance myself," Skorin said.
Troskot then claimed that waste dumping in Gospić lasted from 2019 to 2025, as confirmed by the USKOK protocol, and that the Prime Minister himself had confirmed this. He pointed out that from May 25, 2017, to June 4, 2021, the Lika-Senj County prefect was Dado Milinović, then an HDZ candidate.
"The minister said it correctly: the county department issues waste disposal permits. Only Prefect Milinović could have issued a permit to Čekada d.o.o. And if he didn't, then we have illegal waste dumping by Čekada, which transported this for the supplier, or rather the buyer," Troskot asserted.
Speaking about Benkovac, Troskot said that Cezar, together with Šincek and the Dodić family, carried out an operation and unloaded 11,000 tons of waste near Benkovac. "Now the entire Zadar County is under threat. On one side is Lake Štikada, which is supplied via the Zrmanja River, and on the other side is the Benkovac area, which is also underground and filled. Except for the municipality of Stankovci, the entire Zadar County is now at great risk of water contamination with PFAS, as is the case in Gospić," he said.
Troskot announced that he would reveal additional details about the case at a press conference in Benkovac tomorrow.
