Most MP Zvonimir Troskot has issued a dramatic warning about hazardous waste threatening water systems, including the Zadar hinterland. The party says the situation is urgent and calls for the government's collapse.
Most MP Zvonimir Troskot warned on August 10, 2026, that water is at risk in several Croatian regions due to hazardous waste issues, particularly highlighting the Zadar-Benkovac area. In a video released by his party, Troskot stressed the urgency of the situation, saying it is no longer a matter of days but hours.
Troskot claims the consequences could affect a much wider area than previously stated. According to him, the potential threat is not limited to the Lika region but could impact groundwater and the broader water catchment, including springs and water systems in the Zadar hinterland and Benkovac. "We are no longer talking about months or days, but hours," Troskot said.
Alongside the video, Most issued a sharply political message. They claimed the government had ignored their warnings about hazardous waste in Gospić for ten months, covered up the truth, and assured citizens everything was under control. For all these reasons, the party called for the government's downfall. "A government that allowed the poisoning of Croatian land and water and protected those responsible has lost the right to govern Croatia," their statement reads.
In a social media post, Most also conveyed a message of determination. "For every inch of Croatian land. For every drop of Croatian water. For the health and lives of Croatian people. We will not stop!" they concluded. The claims made by Most in their post represent their political assessments of potential environmental and water supply dangers.
