Donald Trump has enraged music lovers worldwide after sharing an AI-generated image on his social media platform Truth Social, depicting him as Elvis Presley. The image was part of a series of approximately 40 posts shared by the former U.S. president between Saturday and Sunday, with most of the content being AI creations.
In addition to the controversial portrait in attire inspired by Elvis's sequined jumpsuit from the 1973 "Aloha from Hawaii" concert, Trump also shared other provocative images. One of them shows a map of Venezuela covered with the American flag and labeled "51st State," while another features his face hovering over Greenland with the message: "Hello, Greenland!"
This is not the first time Trump has compared himself to Elvis. Earlier this year, he claimed to be bigger than the King of Rock 'n' Roll when he offered to perform at the "Freedom 250" celebration at the Great American State Fair. At the time, he wrote: "I'm thinking about bringing the number one attraction anywhere in the world, a man who draws far bigger crowds than Elvis at the height of his career, and without a guitar, a man who loves our country more than anyone else, and a man who some say is the greatest president in history (THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!), DONALD J. TRUMP."
Reactions to Trump's latest allusion were swift. One user wrote that Trump as Elvis is "an insult to everyone who loved Elvis," while another commented: "Trump keeps posting that America was once the laughingstock of the world, but now that he's president, it's never been more respected. As an Australian, I can 100% confirm that Donald Trump is a laughingstock here."
Twitter user Patrick J. Dylan noted on August 1, 2026: "Unlike Trump, Elvis actually served our nation with honor, distinction, and rock and roll. 🇺🇸" Others added that "He doesn't just crave the spotlight; he thinks he's Elvis at his peak. His ego knows no bounds."
Some commentators drew darker parallels. "The only thing Trump and Elvis have in common is their penchant for underage girls," one user wrote, alluding to the Epstein files and the fact that Elvis met his future wife, Priscilla Presley, when she was just 14 and he was 24.
Critics are further alarmed by Trump's repeated intention to run for a third presidential term, despite the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which clearly states that "no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice." Last Sunday, he posted several photos of himself wearing hats with the slogan "Trump 2028," and recently told Real America's Voice that he "would love to be the next man in that office."
