The public prosecutor's office in Darmstadt has filed for a preventive detention order for a 40-year-old woman suspected of killing a randomly chosen victim during an occult ceremony.
The investigation into the gruesome murder that shook the German town of Heusenstamm, south of Offenbach, earlier this year has taken a darker turn. In Darmstadt, prosecutors believe that a man, whose body parts were found in waste containers, was killed in a ritual linked to Satanism.
Body parts were discovered in February 2026 in an industrial area of Heusenstamm, in the state of Hesse. Following this horrific discovery, police stopped a 39-year-old woman at the border with Poland, suspecting her involvement in his death. According to Fenix magazine, the disturbing case has shaken Germany, and the suspect was arrested just days after the remains were found.
The suspect is now 40 years old. In late July 2026, the Darmstadt public prosecutor's office filed a request to initiate proceedings for a preventive detention order, charging her with murder. Prosecutors state that the investigation so far suggests the victim may have been chosen at random.
"Based on the investigations conducted, the public prosecutor's office assumes that the suspect, who allegedly worked as a prostitute, most likely killed a randomly selected man as part of a Satanic ritual," the Darmstadt public prosecutor's office said in a statement.
