A twelve-year-old boy was injured on Tuesday evening in Varaždin after falling from an electric scooter, the Varaždin Police Department reported on Wednesday. Due to the incident, the police will file appropriate reports against his parents with the competent court.

The accident occurred around 10:20 PM on Eugena Kumičića Street. The boy was improperly riding on the right side of the roadway in the direction of Augusta Harambašića Street on an electric scooter with a power output of 998.4 watts (W). Due to its characteristics, such a vehicle does not fall into the category of personal mobility devices, nor is it classified under any vehicle category according to special regulations.

Loss of control and fall

According to the police report, the boy was riding at a speed inappropriate for the conditions and state of the road. While crossing over a metal storm drain grate, he lost control of the handlebars and fell onto the roadway. In the fall, he sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Varaždin General Hospital. The severity of his injuries will be determined later.
