To assist the City of Omiš following the recent devastating fire that swept through the area, the City of Varaždin has set aside €15,000 as a one-time financial contribution. Mayor Neven Bosilj signed the decision to allocate these funds, which are intended for fire damage remediation, restoration of damaged infrastructure, and procurement of essential supplies for residents who were affected or had to be evacuated.
Bosilj noted that in Varaždin, they followed the news of the fire that struck Omiš and its surroundings with great concern. He emphasized that their thoughts are with all the citizens of Omiš, especially the firefighters and services who made superhuman efforts to protect lives and homes.

The Varaždin mayor added that everyone is aware that recovery and damage remediation will require significant funds and resources. That is precisely why Varaždin wants to show the people of Omiš that they are not alone in these difficult times.
"With this modest aid, we want to send a clear message to the people of Omiš that they are not alone and that in Varaždin they have a sincere friend they can rely on in the toughest moments," said the Varaždin mayor.
The money will be transferred directly to the City of Omiš's account to speed up the cleanup of the fire site and help the most affected areas, as announced on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, and reported to the public by Hina.
