A peaceful Sunday morning in Seget Donji near Trogir was interrupted by a report of a fire that engulfed parked vehicles. According to information from the Split-Dalmatia County Police, the call was received at 9:00 AM, and firefighters from the Seget Vranjica Volunteer Fire Department and the Trogir Public Fire Brigade were dispatched to the scene. From the same sources, we learn that the fire broke out slightly earlier, around 8:40 AM, in the parking lot of the Medena hotel complex. Additional reports indicate that a report was also received later, around 9:20 AM, as confirmed by multiple witnesses who noticed thick, black smoke visible from a great distance.
The fire consumed three vehicles, which were completely destroyed, while two additional cars sustained damage from scorching. The cars were parked along the road leading to the beach and promenade, surrounded by a pine forest. According to information from the scene, the fire started from one parked car and quickly spread to neighboring vehicles. In addition to the material damage to the vehicles, the fire also spread to the surrounding vegetation, scorching approximately 50 square meters of pine forest near the hotel where the incident occurred. However, the fire did not spread to the wider belt of pine forest surrounding that part of the complex, and the surrounding trees were only partially scorched. After bringing the flames under control and extinguishing them, firefighters remained on site to monitor the situation and prevent any potential re-ignition.
The police confirmed that there was no danger to people and that no one was injured in this incident. The rapid intervention of the firefighting forces prevented the fire from spreading further to other structures and vehicles in the vicinity. Police officers are currently conducting an investigation at the scene to determine the exact cause of the fire.
