The best athlete of Slavonski Brod and Brod-Posavina County is honing his form at international sparring preparations in Italy ahead of the European Championship in Sofia, the first major test in the new Olympic cycle.
Croatian national boxing team member Gabrijel Veočić departed for Assisi, Italy, on Saturday, August 9, where he will take part in international sparring preparations until August 18. For the best athlete of Slavonski Brod and Brod-Posavina County, this is the first concrete step in preparations for the European Championship, which begins on September 15 in Sofia, and the start of a long road to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
In Assisi, a strong international field of boxers from numerous European and world countries has gathered. Over the course of about ten days, Veočić will have the opportunity to test himself against opponents of different styles and boxing schools, which is an ideal chance to raise his competitive form ahead of the major competition. These sparring matches serve to verify everything that has been done earlier in preparations, as well as to identify aspects that need refinement before stepping into the ring.
