Last night, the final of the third edition of the humanitarian futsal tournament "For Our Kids, Petrčane Close 2026." was played at the court in Petrčane. The Villa Pino team defeated Fratelli 2:1, securing their third consecutive title at this tournament, which once again proved to be more than just a sporting competition.
All proceeds from the tournament are designated for the Zaratinići Association, which supports children and families facing severe diagnoses and developmental challenges. The organizers also prepared a rich accompanying program for visitors, including raffles, a fun park for the youngest, and live music.
The road to the final was exciting. In the first semifinal, Fratelli defeated Kraljevski vinogradi 4:2. The match was practically decided in the first five minutes, as Fratelli raced to a 4:0 lead. Kraljevski vinogradi tried to mount a comeback but couldn't complete the turnaround.
In the second semifinal, Villa Pino was convincing against Bonaca, winning 5:2 and securing their place in the final.
The final match was a hard-fought battle. Fratelli took an early 0:1 lead, putting the defending champions under pressure. Villa Pino managed to turn the game around and ultimately celebrated a 2:1 victory.
"I'm overjoyed. In my own town, with these guys, we've won this tournament three times in a row. It was a tough and physical match. We conceded a goal from a free kick, then had to chase the game, but luckily we managed to turn it around and deservedly celebrated in the end," said Ante Šale, the winning team's captain.
After the triumph, Šale sent a powerful message to those gathered, highlighting the importance of such events and what is often taken for granted.
"We'll celebrate here with music, prosciutto, and drinks. Don't worry, the tournament will be held again next year. I urge everyone to support events like this because no one realizes that those of us who are healthy are actually billionaires," Šale said emotionally.
A special moment of the evening was the women's exhibition match, where Djevojke iz Petrčana thrashed Petrčanske nevjeste 7:0. The Nevjeste stepped in as a replacement for the Kožina team, which failed to show up.
The standout player on the court was 20-year-old Zara Stanišić, who scored five goals, leaving her mark on the exhibition part of the program.
All tournament matches were officiated by experienced Zadar referee Damir Dukić (64), whose authority kept the game firmly under control.
