Vin Diesel has officially confirmed that the 11th installment of the 'Fast and Furious' franchise will be the last. The film's premiere is scheduled for March 17, 2028. Filming begins in December 2026, according to TASS, citing Variety.
The actor, who has played the lead role in most of the franchise's films for over 20 years, shared an emotional post on Instagram. He read the script for the upcoming film titled 'Fast Forever,' written by screenwriter Mike Leslie.

"You have no idea. When March 17, 2028 comes, you'll thank God you saw the first part in theaters this summer. I just read the script for Fast Forever by Mike Leslie. It's the best script I've read in the last ten years. I'm still crying," Vin Diesel wrote in the caption.
TASS reports that the actor told Variety he cried after reading the final version of the script.
25 Years of the Franchise
On Monday, Los Angeles celebrated the 25th anniversary of the first film in the 'Fast and Furious' franchise, which was released in 2001. A special screening brought together the cast, including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, and Meadow Walker, the daughter of the late Paul Walker.
After the success of the first film, the sequel '2 Fast 2 Furious' hit theaters in 2003, directed by John Singleton. The third installment, 'The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift,' arrived in 2006, directed by Justin Lin. Lin also directed 'Fast & Furious' (2009), 'Fast Five' (2011), and 'Fast & Furious 6' (2013).
For the seventh installment in 2015, 'Furious 7,' James Wan took over directing duties, and in 2017, 'The Fate of the Furious' was released, directed by F. Gary Gray. The spin-off 'Hobbs & Shaw' in 2019 was directed by David Leitch, with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham in the lead roles.
