The past day in the area of the Vukovar-Srijem Police Department was marked by a series of traffic accidents, with particular concern over one in Vinkovci where a vehicle struck a child on the sidewalk. According to the police report, on Monday, August 10, 2026, a total of six traffic accidents were recorded, of which three involved injuries and three involved material damage.
Accident in Vinkovci: Child Sustains Minor Injuries
Around 11:50 AM in Vinkovci, a 40-year-old driver was operating an unclassified vehicle and struck a pedestrian, a child, on the sidewalk. The child sustained minor physical injuries in the accident. Police also determined that the driver was not wearing a protective helmet during the ride, further indicating irresponsible behavior in traffic.
Serious Injuries in Babina Greda and Gunja
The most serious accident occurred in the early morning hours in Babina Greda. Around 4:00 AM, a 19-year-old driver of a passenger car with Slavonski Brod license plates failed to adjust the vehicle's speed to the road conditions and veered off the roadway into a drainage canal. In addition to the driver, there were four passengers in the car, and two minors sustained serious physical injuries. The driver will face criminal charges for causing a traffic accident.
On the same day, around 4:00 PM in Gunja, a 49-year-old citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina was riding a motorcycle with German license plates. Upon entering a roundabout, due to inappropriate speed, he lost control of the motorcycle and fell, sustaining serious physical injuries. After receiving medical care, appropriate misdemeanor proceedings will follow against him.
Other Accidents and Violations
In addition to accidents with injuries, three traffic accidents with material damage were recorded in Markušica, Andrijaševci, and Bošnjaci. Additionally, two collisions with wildlife were reported on county roads Cerna-Babina Greda and Tordinci-Bršadin.
Fixed speed cameras recorded as many as 33 speeding violations, highlighting the ongoing problem of speeding on the county's roads.
