From August 1 to August 31, 2026, the virtual humanitarian race "Running for Magdalena" will take place, launched by the Good Heart Movement Initiative. Leading this noble cause are Pula-based humanitarian Marin Giljanović and ultramarathoner Vedran Sunić, with a clear goal: to raise funds for the continued treatment and rehabilitation of little Magdalena from Višnjan.
Since birth, Magdalena has been fighting a tough battle with cerebral palsy, and her health condition is further complicated by numerous comorbidities. Due to optic nerve damage, she is completely blind, while severe scoliosis compresses her lungs and makes breathing difficult. Despite all this, she and her family refuse to give up, but after years of self-funding expensive therapies, their resources are exhausted.
The VELL Center in Zagreb plays a particularly important role in Magdalena's progress, where she undergoes rehabilitation. The results so far are encouraging and show significant improvement, which is why experts strongly recommend continuing the therapies. They are crucial for maintaining and enhancing her functional abilities, as well as preparing her for the demanding hip and spasticity surgeries that lie ahead, which should significantly ease her daily life.
The virtual format of the race is designed so that absolutely anyone can participate - from experienced runners and recreational athletes to walkers, people with disabilities, and families with children. Participation is possible from any location, at any time that suits participants during August. Every kilometer covered is a symbol of support and a message that together we can change lives for the better.
All information about registration and participation is available on the Stoperica.hr platform, and updates are regularly posted on the Facebook page "Virtualna Humanitarna Utrka Trčimo za Magdalenu".
The realization of this humanitarian race has also been supported by sponsors who recognized the importance of socially responsible action. Among them are the family company Amfora Antiqua j.d.o.o., Noin Vrt from Medulin and Taqueria Passage, Mexican Street Food Pula, who have made a valuable contribution to ensure the successful implementation of this campaign.
