Police officers from the Garešnica Police Station stopped a passenger car with Bjelovar license plates on Matije Gupca Street in Garešnica on August 5, 2026, at approximately 5:05 PM. The driver, a 23-year-old man, was suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.
A preliminary drug test showed the presence of amphetamines, commonly known as speed, in his system. Subsequently, blood and urine samples were taken from the driver for toxicological analysis. During the procedure, the 23-year-old voluntarily handed over 0.2 grams of marijuana to the officers.
Due to the risk of continued offenses, the young man was taken to the Garešnica Police Station and placed in a special room until the effects of the intoxicating substance wore off.
Following the arrest, police officers, acting on a warrant from the Municipal Court in Bjelovar, conducted a search of the home and other premises used by the 23-year-old for residence. During the search, police found and seized military ammunition intended for a rifle.
The 23-year-old will face criminal charges for illegal possession, production, and procurement of weapons and explosives. Additionally, a misdemeanor charge will be filed with the Municipal Court in Bjelovar for unauthorized possession of drugs.
