Poreč police stopped a 21-year-old North Macedonian citizen who was riding a moped without a driver's license and with an expired registration. The court imposed a fine, and the police set a deadline for leaving the country.
On Sunday, August 16, 2026, at approximately 2:20 PM, Poreč police stopped a 21-year-old North Macedonian citizen on Partizanska Street. He was riding a moped with Pula license plates, and a check revealed that he had not passed his driving test and that the moped's registration had expired, reports Istra Terra Magica.
The driver was arrested to prevent further endangerment of traffic safety. A criminal complaint was filed against him with the competent court for violations of the Road Traffic Safety Act. The police proposed a fine and a prison sentence of up to 60 days.
The court released the driver and imposed a fine of €1,580. According to data from the Istria Police Department, the young man was brought before the competent court on the same day.
Due to violations of the Aliens Act, the police set a deadline for the 21-year-old to leave the Republic of Croatia. The Istrian police published information about the violation and the imposed penalty on August 18, 2026.
