Zabok General Hospital and the Croatian Veterans' Hospital officially took delivery of valuable medical equipment for its Pediatrics Department on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The purchase was fully funded by proceeds from a donor evening held in late May at Gjalski Castle, which drew a large crowd of entrepreneurs, craftsmen, and citizens.

The campaign proved highly successful. The total amount raised reached €22,750, achieved through more than 100 individual donations. Gjalski Castle covered the cost of food and beverages for all guests, ensuring that every donated euro went directly toward improving care for the youngest patients.

Phototherapy System as the Highlight of the Purchase

Head of the Pediatrics Department Iva Blaić and Head Nurse Tanja Capek presented the newly acquired equipment. Special emphasis was placed on the phototherapy system called the "nest," which alone is worth €9,500. In addition, the funds were used to purchase two infusion pumps, two syringe pumps, specialized trolleys for transport and observation, and several sets of bedding.

Blaić and Capek noted that this equipment will directly enhance the department's work quality and raise the standard of care for children. They also announced the next goal-acquiring new pediatric cribs, as the existing ones have been in use for a long time.

Thanks and Future Plans

Hospital Director Andreja Filija expressed gratitude to the initiator and organizer, Mr. Vorih, Gjalski Castle, and all donors and partners. She emphasized that their contributions demonstrated true solidarity and social responsibility, providing direct support to the hospital's operations.

Mr. Vorih described the entire campaign as an excellent opportunity to engage new donors and launch a broader social initiative. Together with Director Filija, he concluded that this first donor evening of its kind in Zagorje was a truly beautiful and successful story worth repeating.
