Krapina-Zagorje County continues its co-financing measure for primary school workbooks, while the Municipality of Rovišće fully covers the cost of workbooks and supplies for students from 1st to 8th grade.
As families across Croatia prepare for the upcoming school year, news from Krapina-Zagorje County and the Municipality of Rovišće will significantly ease household budgets for parents of primary school students. Local authorities have again secured funds to finance school supplies and workbooks, continuing a multi-year practice of direct support for families.
This year, Krapina-Zagorje County will again, in partnership with cities and municipalities, finance the procurement of workbooks for students in all primary schools in its area. All students enrolled in primary school within the county by the start of the 2026/2027 school year, as well as those who enroll later, will be entitled to free workbooks for compulsory and elective subjects.
The County will cover 50 percent of the procurement cost from its budget, while agreements will be signed with local self-government units to finance the remaining portion for students in their areas. The procurement process will be carried out by cities and municipalities, with the exception of the Center for Education and Upbringing Krapinske Toplice, which will conduct the procurement independently, with the County covering the full costs for the Center's attendees.
"Krapina-Zagorje County has been implementing this measure since 2019 to ease part of the costs related to the start of the school year for parents. We continue in cooperation with cities and municipalities. Together, we provide concrete support to families and create equal conditions for students across our county," said County Prefect Željko Kolar.
Meanwhile, the Municipality of Rovišće is going a step further by fully financing workbooks and school supplies for all students from 1st to 8th grade. Mayor Slavko Prišćan emphasized that the decision was made in advance precisely so that parents would not have to buy supplies themselves and incur unnecessary expenses.
"This year, we are again supporting our students and parents by providing free workbooks and supplies for all schoolchildren from 1st to 8th grade. It's certainly a nice help again this year. We made the decision now so that parents don't already buy workbooks and create a certain cost, and the Municipality of Rovišće takes care of them," said Prišćan.
The distribution of the packages will be organized at the beginning of the new school year, and the Municipality will announce more detailed information about the collection method later.
