On Monday, August 10, 2026, residents of the Croatian capital are in for a true summer scorcher. According to the forecast reported by Stijena.info, the day will be marked by sunny and extremely hot weather, with daytime highs ranging between 33 and 35°C.
Clouds will be virtually absent, and stable summer conditions will prevail for most of the day. The highest temperature will be reached during the afternoon, when the heat is expected to peak. Due to intense warming, it is advised to avoid direct sun exposure during the hottest period.
Croatia is currently at the peak of a heatwave that has engulfed much of Europe, bringing exceptionally high temperatures and sultry days across the country. The State Hydrometeorological Institute (DHMZ) has issued an orange warning for the Zagreb region, indicating dangerous weather conditions and a significant health risk. DHMZ officials urge: "Be prepared for the onset of health risks due to heat and high temperatures among vulnerable populations, especially the elderly and young children. Listen to and follow the advice given by the relevant authorities."
The morning will, however, bring some relief, especially in the wider urban area. Noticeable temperature differences are expected between the city center and its outskirts. The lowest morning temperature on the outskirts of Zagreb will be around 15°C, while in the very center it will hold at a more comfortable 19°C. After the cooler morning, a rapid rise in temperature will follow.
Although the morning values are refreshing, it should be kept in mind that inland air temperatures will climb to between 34 and 38°C during the day, and in Zagreb itself, the maximum could reach as high as 37 degrees Celsius. Lower humidity will make the heat somewhat more bearable compared to the muggy air on the coast.
An additional challenge will be the mostly light wind, which will not bring any significant cooling. Due to the lack of stronger air currents, the subjective feeling of summer heat will be heightened. The entire Monday will be characterized by stable weather and plenty of sunshine, with no rain or sudden weather changes forecast for the capital.
The forecast was updated overnight, at 2 a.m. on August 10, and confirms that the temperature range during the day will be very wide, from a morning low of 15°C to an afternoon high of 35°C. Residents planning outdoor activities can track the temperature hour by hour to better plan their commitments. Authorities are urging people to avoid direct sun exposure during the hottest part of the day, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
