Summary
  • On the A1 in the Brezik tunnel, the accident investigation is complete, but traffic is still moving in a queue of about 2 km.
  • On the Zagreb bypass (A3), due to an accident near Buzin, the queue is about 10 km long.
  • For Wednesday, HAK announces restrictions due to the bura wind on the Adriatic and increased traffic with possible delays on bypasses.

Drivers on Croatian motorways on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, faced significant delays. According to data from the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK), on the A1 motorway between the Perušić and Otočac interchanges, the investigation of a traffic accident that occurred in the Brezik tunnel towards Zagreb has been completed. Although the investigation is over, traffic is still moving with difficulty, and the queue of vehicles is about two kilometers long.

Ten-kilometer queue on A3

An even bigger delay was recorded on the Zagreb bypass. Due to a traffic accident on the A3 motorway between the Buzin and Zagreb zapad interchanges, precisely at kilometer 16+100 towards Bregana, traffic is moving in only one lane. As a result, the queue extends for approximately 10 kilometers.

Other difficulties on the roads

On the Solin-Klis expressway (DC1), after the Jamani viaduct towards Solin, a broken-down truck caused a speed limit of 40 kilometers per hour. At the same time, on the A2 Zagreb-Macelj motorway, temporary regulations are in effect: on the Krapina-Đurmanec section towards Macelj (from km 17+500 to 13+750) and on the Trakošćan-Đurmanec section towards Zagreb (from km 6+700 to 8+200), traffic is moving in only one lane.

Due to works lasting until September 1, on the A3 Bregana-Lipovac motorway between the Popovača and Kutina interchanges (from km 90+700 to 93+800) towards Lipovac, traffic flows in two narrowed lanes. Additionally, until October 3, works are ongoing between the Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb zapad interchanges, where the carriageway towards Lipovac is completely closed, and traffic is redirected to the opposite carriageway.

Forecast for Wednesday: bura wind and congestion

According to HAK's traffic forecast for Wednesday, August 12, 2026, due to the bura wind on the Adriatic, restrictions are possible for certain groups of vehicles, especially on sections of the Adriatic Highway in the sub-Velebit area. Due to increased traffic during the morning and afternoon hours, delays and queues are expected on city roads and bypasses, with particular emphasis on the Zagreb bypass (A3), the Rijeka bypass (A7), and the A2 motorway at the Zagreb zapad interchange. Problems are also expected on the A3 between the Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb zapad interchanges.

HAK reminds drivers to maintain a safe distance and to form an emergency corridor in case of congestion. Due to stormy winds, difficulties in maritime traffic are also possible.
