Streets Across Sinj to Close for 311th Sinjska Alka

The Split-Dalmatia Police have introduced special traffic regulations for the upcoming Sunday, August 9, 2026, when the 311th Sinjska Alka takes place in Sinj. The event begins at 4:30 PM, and to ensure the safety of all participants and the smooth running of the event, traffic will be gradually restricted from the early morning hours.

The police have appealed to all drivers to follow temporary signage and instructions from officials on the ground. The goal is to avoid the congestion and delays that are common during such large gatherings.

Detailed Street Closure Schedule

Restrictions will be introduced in several phases, and the police have published a precise timetable for key roads:

• From 7:00 AM: Traffic restrictions at the intersection of 126th Brigade HV Street and Put Pazara.
• From 7:30 AM: Restrictions come into effect on Matića Street, A. K. Miošića Street, Kvartiri Street, and Knez Branimir Street.
• From 8:30 AM: Restrictions are also introduced at the intersection of 126th Brigade HV Street and Put Ruduše.

The police note that some roads may be completely closed to all traffic during the day, depending on the situation and the flow of visitors.

Where Parking is Prohibited

In addition to traffic restrictions, extensive parking bans will be in effect on as many as eleven city streets. Improperly parked vehicles will be penalized and, in extreme cases, towed if legal conditions are met. The list of streets where parking will not be allowed includes:

Recommendations for Drivers and Additional Measures

To avoid inconvenience, drivers are advised to bypass the center of Sinj on Sunday and use alternative routes. Extra caution is advised due to possible heavy congestion and occasional, short-term closures of certain roads throughout the day.

The police have also announced that, in accordance with the Police Duties and Powers Act, they will conduct video recording of the entire public gathering. The recording will cover the period before, during, and after the Alka, all with the aim of ensuring the highest level of safety.
