Sarajevo's footballers failed to open the new season in the desired manner. In the first-round match, played on Friday, August 8, 2026, at the Rođeni Stadium in Mostar, they drew 0:0 against Radnik, and coach Zoran Zekić did not mince words after the game to describe his team's performance.
Banić the only bright spot
Zekić was highly critical of his players' performance, emphasizing that the win was far from deserved. "We didn't even deserve the three points. We had one player in form, and that was Banić in goal. We intended to attack, but we moved too little without the ball. We made many mistakes at the start, slips, misunderstandings. Lately, there's been a lot of nervousness with us; we need to calm down and figure some things out. Today wasn't good," said Zekić.
"The problems worry us"
The Sarajevo coach didn't stop at superficial analysis. He openly spoke about the depth of the problems his team is facing, from tactics to execution. "If we started talking about problems, we could talk for three days. The ball circulation was poor, we didn't have a player to create an extra man. We were poorly mobile going forward. There are many things we need to think about. There are many things that worry us," added Zekić.
Cimirot out of action
Additional concern for Sarajevo fans is the absence of Cimirot, for whom Zekić confirmed he is injured. "He's injured. We'll see how long it lasts. Talking about names is... We weren't at the level Sarajevo deserves," concluded the Sarajevo coach, not wanting to elaborate further on individuals while the collective impression was so poor.
Krulj satisfied with character
On the other hand, Radnik's coach Bojan Krulj could be more satisfied with what he saw, especially given the circumstances. "We had many personnel problems, and I congratulate the players on their character. I'm satisfied with the fight, but I regret the chances we missed. We were under pressure; Sarajevo has quality, but we were disciplined until the end. I wish Sarajevo all the best in the rest of the championship," said Krulj.
