US to End 23-Year Military Presence in Iraq by End of September
The remaining approximately 2,500 American troops will leave Iraq by September 30, ending a deployment that began with the 2003 invasion. Baghdad is simultaneously seeking the surrender of irregular factions' arsenals by the same deadline.
