The Community of Associations of Anti-Fascist Fighters and Anti-Fascists of Šibenik-Knin County (ZUABA), also known for the Šibenik Victory Museum, has officially launched one of the most technologically ambitious projects in modern Croatian history. It is an AI-based system that will continuously monitor, analyze, and report hate speech and historical revisionism online, and in the most severe cases, automatically prepare documentation for the State Attorney's Office (DORH).

The project represents a precedent in the Croatian civil sector, and behind it is Denis Periša, one of the most renowned computer experts and hackers in Dalmatia. The initiators warn that the forms of fascist ideology have dramatically changed in the 21st century, making it necessary to adapt methods of struggle.

"Fascism today no longer spreads only through the streets. Its main battlefield has become online portals, social networks, and comments where hatred, historical revisionism, and violent extremism are normalized daily. It is time for anti-fascism to adapt to the new era," say the project's initiators.

Four Key Functions of the Digital Shield

The developed AI tool is not intended as a short-term campaign but as a permanent digital infrastructure for defending democracy and human rights. The system performs four key functions: automatic scanning of publicly available online content, real-time recognition of hate speech and extremist messages, analysis of patterns of hate spread in the digital space, and automatic preparation of documentation for reporting the most severe forms of illegal content to competent institutions.

As proof of effectiveness, the initiators provided an example of an official report generated and sent to competent institutions during the project's testing phase. Some of those automatically reported had already threatened journalists of the Morski HR portal or violated Croatian laws in public online communication.

Reports That Have Already Yielded Results

The effectiveness of the legal system in combating threats to journalists is also confirmed by a recent case. After 15 months, on December 4, the State Attorney's Office completed its investigation into a criminal case involving a series of serious threats directed at the editor-in-chief of the Morski HR portal, Jurica Gašpar. The result of the investigation is an indictment filed before the Municipal Court in Split against three members of a group of boaters.

The Morski HR portal previously reported on a man who, in Prihonja Bay near Vela Luka, stoned a rented sailboat with a three-member English family, causing material damage of at least 2,500 euros to a charter company from Dubrovnik. When the portal published the story, the same man threatened the journalist with the words: "If you publish this, I will kill you, 100 percent!"

The association has issued a call to all anti-fascists, citizens, and civil society organizations to support the project's development and join the common struggle. "Anti-fascism must be present where the battle is fought today-in the digital space," the initiators conclude.
