The Mayor of Sinj has issued a decision on the working hours of hospitality establishments during the 'Days of Alka and Velika Gospa 2026' event, allowing them to operate without restrictions on key days.
As Alka Week begins, the town of Sinj is preparing for its most important days of the year. Mayor Miro Bulj held a meeting with hospitality workers at Pijaca on Monday, August 3, 2026, to call on them to provide a welcoming reception and issued a Decision on the working hours of hospitality establishments during the 'Days of Alka and Velika Gospa 2026' event.
According to the decision, restaurants, bars, pastry shops, bistros, pizzerias, and other establishments can operate until 3 a.m. during the event, and until 4 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. A special regime with no time restrictions has been introduced for the most important dates. This applies to the Day of Bara (August 7), the Day of Čoja (August 8), the Sinjska Alka (August 9), and the eve and the feast day of Velika Gospa itself.
Bulj made a clear appeal to hospitality workers to adapt the atmosphere to different parts of the program. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the moment, especially during religious events. "During the procession and religious events, it is necessary to show respect and lower the music, while during secular programs and folk celebrations, appropriate music that preserves the spirit of the Alka, Sinj, and our customs should be chosen," the mayor said.
In addition to regulating working hours, the mayor called on all citizens of Sinj to tidy up their homes, facades, balconies, and yards. In the spirit of old Sinj tradition, he invited everyone to warmly welcome guests. "Let us open our doors and hearts to everyone who comes to Sinj these days. Let us be good hosts, warm and welcoming to all, as our ancestors always were," Bulj said, adding that the goal is for every guest to feel welcome and to showcase the renowned Sinj hospitality.
