Croatian captain Luka Modrić, after his comeback appearance for Milan against Inter, didn't miss the chance to joke with Hakan Calhanoglu, and the charming moment quickly went viral.
Luka Modrić, captain of the Croatian national football team, returned to the pitch in Milan's colors and immediately showed that he hasn't lost his sense of humor along with his mastery of the ball. In a friendly match against city rivals Inter, played in Perth, Australia, Modrić came on in the 62nd minute, replacing Youssouf Fofana. The match ended 1-1, but one scene after the final whistle drew more attention than the game itself.
In high spirits, Modrić was greeting Inter players when he came across Turkish captain and midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu. Calhanoglu had recently been in Turkey for a hair transplant, a detail the Croatian midfielder didn't overlook.
Modrić approached him with a smile and, in his signature style, gently patted him on the head. Calhanoglu immediately caught on to Modrić's joke and responded with a smile of his own. The exchange was brief and friendly, showcasing the great rapport between two seasoned midfielders.
This charming moment comes at a time when Modrić has confirmed his stay with the Italian giants. The Croatian captain activated the contract extension clause with Milan, keeping him at the club until June 2027. This put an end to speculation about his potential retirement after the World Cup, following which he took a well-deserved break.
The midfielder, who will soon celebrate his 41st birthday, thus continues a new chapter in his illustrious career, and judging by his relaxed performance in Perth, he's ready for all the challenges ahead.
