Hundreds of people gathered for the ceremony, where the bodies, wrapped in Palestinian flags, were laid in rows near the destroyed buildings. According to a statement from Gaza's Civil Defense, emergency teams recovered the bodies during the weekend preceding August 4, after searching the rubble for 136 hours. Among the remains found, the statement said, were 40 children, 30 women, and seven disabled individuals. Civil Defense added that 157 people are still listed as missing.
Palestinian health officials estimate that a total of around 7,400 people are missing or trapped under the rubble across Gaza as a result of numerous Israeli attacks, as reported by N1 Serbia.
