XVIII. Burnum Days Moves to Krka Eco Campus

History and food enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience Burnum Days in a completely new setting this year. The Public Institution Krka National Park is organizing the eighteenth edition of this event, which is exceptionally moving to the "Krka" Eco Campus in Puljane. The reason is the conservation work at its previous location, the impressive Roman military amphitheater at Burnum, as well as the closed access road across Brljan.
The event will take place on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, and admission to all activities, including visits to the permanent museum exhibits, will be free for all visitors. Although it takes place in a slightly different format, the program remains true to its core mission that has been ongoing since 2011: to bring the life and customs of antiquity closer in an interesting and interactive way.
The afternoon program begins at 5:00 PM, and visitors will be greeted by the historical stage performance of Diocletian's Legion. Through the portrayal of Roman soldiers and gladiators, the audience will be able to see parts of military equipment firsthand and learn about the discipline and daily life of a Roman soldier. The youngest visitors can try their hand at a short school of Roman tactics, explore a themed military camp, and take photos with legion members.
For those seeking creative expression, there will also be a Roman playroom and workshops where participants can make models of Roman war machines and weave laurel wreaths. The goal is to bring the daily life of Ancient Rome to children and adults through ancient board games and entertainment.
Special emphasis in this year's edition is placed on gastronomy, as part of the Convivium est vita program. Dr. Ivana Ožanić will hold a culinary workshop inspired by Roman cuisine and present her book "To the Table! On Cooking in Narona". Through a short lecture, she will introduce the audience to ancient gastronomy and the concept of sustainable eating. Visitors will be able to taste dishes prepared from local ingredients according to recipes inspired by Roman cuisine and view an exhibition on ancient culinary arts, created in collaboration with the Narona Museum.
During the event, visitors can also freely explore all permanent interpretive exhibits at the "Krka" Eco Campus, such as the Burnum Archaeological Collection, the Temple of Nature, and the Nature Laboratory, which further illuminate the natural and cultural heritage of Krka National Park.
The evening will be rounded off at 9:30 PM with a concert by the ethno band Kries, known for blending traditional music with contemporary musical expression. Their performance in the unique ambiance of the Eco Campus promises a special experience, under the slogan that accompanies the entire event: "Edamus, bibamus, gaudeamus!", "Let us eat, drink, and be merry!"
Due to the closed crossing over the Brljan waterfall, the organizers have prepared detailed directions for arriving from different directions. Visitors coming from the direction of Šibenik should follow the brown tourist signage via Pakovo Selo, the crossing over Čikola, Kaočine, Trbounje, and Oklaj to Puljane. Those coming from the direction of Zadar are advised to take the detour via Roški slap, then via Širitovci, Trbounje, and Oklaj. From the direction of Knin, the Eco Campus is reached via Oklaj, specifically the route Vrbnik, Suknovci.
