High temperatures and prolonged drought continue to strain the water supply system in Zadar County. Tomislav Matek, director of Vodovod Zadar, reported on the situation on the ground yesterday, noting that supply issues are emerging in higher areas such as Zemunik Gornji, Podgradina, and Jovići. According to him, the city of Zadar is currently stable, including its high zones.

Matek reiterated his appeal to all users to use water rationally. "The water conservation measure remains in effect until further notice, and users of water services will be informed without delay," Vodovod Zadar stated on its official website. They emphasized that, despite awareness of the importance of maintaining urban greenery for the environment and tourism, under current circumstances the priority must be preserving system stability and ensuring drinking water for households, healthcare facilities, and other essential services.

A special appeal was also made to the city company Nasadi, responsible for maintaining green areas, to reduce water consumption for watering. Josip Krnčević, director of Nasadi, confirmed to Antena Zadar that they fully respect Vodovod's request and have already taken concrete steps.

Watering with Tankers and Readiness for Further Reductions

"We have reduced watering of green areas, and we already water trees with tankers," Krnčević said. He stressed that ensuring water for households is an absolute priority. "If necessary, we will reduce further, but we have no issues with that because it's more important that households have water," added the director of Nasadi, showing readiness for additional conservation measures while the crisis lasts.

Vodovod also reported issues with local pumping stations that were temporarily shut down due to chlorination difficulties. Supply in the affected areas was expected to be improved and restored to normal levels, which should bring relief to residents.

Meteorologists are forecasting a change in weather and a drop in high temperatures, which could soon significantly ease the situation, both in water supply and in maintaining urban greenery that is suffering in this heat.
