Singer Andrea Šušnjara gave an exceptionally candid interview in the video format "5 Minutes Left," where she spoke unreservedly about her difficult childhood. When asked if she would choose the same family again if she could, she replied briefly: "I wouldn't."
A Dysfunctional Family and a Struggle from the Start
Šušnjara then explained the reasons behind her answer, revealing the tough circumstances in which she grew up. "I come from a dysfunctional family, so I had fewer chances for success from the start, and I went through much harder things than most of my peers," she said. She singled out her parents' divorce as a key moment, but also the immense importance of her grandmother. "From my parents' divorce to the fact that, well, if it hadn't been for my grandmother, maybe I wouldn't be where I am today," she added.
Growing Up Without a Father Figure
The singer also recalled a period of growing up where only her closest female family members were by her side. "It's no secret, I grew up without a dad and I didn't have that authority in my life. It was just me, my mom, and my grandmother," said Šušnjara. Despite many difficult moments, she believes that this very experience shaped her into the person she is today.
An Experience That Forged a Fighter
"But again, it made me a fighter and a stronger person. Thanks to everything I've been through, I'm a strong person, and I've experienced much worse things than what happened to me as a child," she said. Over the years, she emphasizes, she has worked a lot on herself and managed to heal relationships from the past.
"I've had many years, and I've learned to balance in life, to forgive others and, most importantly, to forgive myself. That's why I can say I'm on good terms with everyone. I have no enemies, no people I don't like or who don't like me, as far as I know. I've somehow resolved all of that, I've worked a lot on myself, and I'm satisfied with where I am now," the singer concluded for Klix.ba.
