On Thursday, August 13, 2026, the Croatian Competition Agency (AZTN) initiated an administrative procedure against Granolio, as stated on its website, to determine whether the company, acting as a buyer, used its significant bargaining power to impose unfair trading conditions on its wheat suppliers.
After AZTN, during its analysis of buyers' operations under the provisions of the Act on the Prohibition of Unfair Trading Practices in the Food Supply Chain (ZNTP), including Granolio, found indications that this buyer may have acted contrary to these provisions, the procedure was initiated ex officio.
AZTN will, as stated, consider all aspects related to the content and implementation of Granolio's business relationships with its wheat suppliers, and will only make a substantive decision after fully establishing the facts.
The Agency emphasizes that the mere initiation of an administrative procedure does not necessarily imply a violation of the ZNTP. This means that the procedure will only establish the facts and any potential liability of the company.
Granolio was founded in 1996, with its headquarters in Zagreb. The company's official website states that its operations are based on flour milling, milk and cheese production, agriculture and economy, storage facilities, agricultural production, and contract livestock farming.
