Nikolina, a little girl from Novi Sad, still needs €5,000 to continue her treatment in Russia. Her parents abandoned her when she was a baby, and her grandmother, Mira Tešanović, took over her care, fighting alone for her health.

Grandmother Mira told Kurir TV that Nikolina has been with her since birth and that she noticed something wrong with her eyes as early as the sixth month of her life. After a check-up with a pediatrician, they were referred to an ophthalmologist, but her condition kept worsening.

Surgery at Age Three and a Loan for Treatment

"Then I went to the pediatrician, who sent us to an ophthalmologist. We started regular check-ups, but Nikolina's condition worsened; she was too little to even say she was in pain. We took out a loan to seek private treatment. Nikolina had eye surgery when she was three. Her condition means she can only see 50 percent, but it's not a diopter issue; she simply sees at 50 percent and has been used to it since birth, which severely disrupts school and her quality of life," Mira Tešanović told Kurir.

According to Kurir.rs, Nikolina suffers from nystagmus, a disorder affecting eye movements and vision. Among the symptoms she faces daily are headaches and so-called dancing eyes.

Campaign Organizer Calls for Solidarity

The campaign organizer, Nina Damjanović, brought journalists to Novi Sad to meet Nikolina. She provided grandmother Mira and Nikolina with food, sneakers, and other necessities, and stressed that she would like to see as many people as possible get involved in this and similar stories across the country.

To continue her treatment, Nikolina needs about €5,000, and her new hope is treatment in Russia. Those who wish to help can send an SMS with the text 220 to the number 2407.

In the same article, Kurir.rs also mentions Goran (19), who also needs help. He suffers from cerebral palsy, his father abandoned him, and his mother lost her battle with cancer.
