The Speaker of the Serbian Parliament, in an appearance on Kurir TV, accused Croatian singers of holding identical views on Operation Storm, criticized the EU, Montenegro's Prime Minister, and the opposition, while calling Vučić Serbia's best PR.
The Speaker of the Serbian Parliament, Ana Brnabić, appeared on Kurir TV on Tuesday, during which she made a series of sharp assessments on current political topics in the region. Her statement about Croatian musicians Severina and Marko Perković Thompson, whose views on the military-police operation Storm she deemed identical, drew particular attention.
Speaking about opposition politician Srđan Milivojević, Brnabić claimed that Severina and Thompson share the same views on the events of 1995. "Severina holds identical views to Thompson. Those views are: Storm is not a crime but a liberation operation; Serbs are to blame for agreeing to leave their centuries-old hearths and homes in Croatia as a constitutive people," said Brnabić.
She also quoted Milivojević's response to these claims: "Srđan Milivojević replied to me: 'Yes, that will be a people's celebration.' I don't know which people's. Because certainly not ours," added the Speaker of the Serbian Parliament.
At the beginning of the conversation, Brnabić commented on the case of Nenad Rašković, a Serb who was beaten in the village of Dren near Zubin Potok in Kosovo. She called the incident a brutal crime and particularly criticized the lack of reaction from the European Union.
"A brutal crime, monstrous, not befitting 21st-century behavior, and foreigners are silent," Brnabić said. She continued with harsh words for Brussels: "This is a message to all Serbs. This is hypocrisy; my message to those in Brussels is, shame on you for talking."
Part of her appearance was dedicated to protest movements in Serbia and part of the opposition, which she accused of intending to remove national symbols. She specifically mentioned the Green-Left Front and the Democratic Party as political actors supporting such policies.
"The blockade movement now has a clear policy; they've hidden it for quite a while. That policy is now clear. It's a policy that, first, when they come to power in Serbia, nothing should be called Serbian anymore," Brnabić claimed. She added that the opposition objects to the Serbian Olympic Committee and the Serbian Boxing Federation, while the Croatian Football Federation does not bother them. "They go to Croatia, they flee to Croatia; Croatia is their model of how things should look," she said.
Brnabić also addressed relations with Montenegro, sharply criticizing Prime Minister Milojko Spajić. According to her, official Podgorica does not pursue a patient or pragmatic policy toward Croatia but takes direct orders.
"They take direct orders from Croatia, and whatever those orders are, they will be fulfilled. His principle is obedience," Brnabić said. She added that Spajić has nothing to explain to Serbia nor to address President Aleksandar Vučić.
Toward the end of her appearance, Brnabić particularly highlighted the role of President Vučić, calling him the country's best promoter. She praised his communication with the President of the Russian Federation, thanks to which Serbia has the most favorable gas arrangement, as well as the fact that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky paid a visit.
"If you have a president of your country who communicates with the President of the Russian Federation, and at the same time President Volodymyr Zelensky visits us and personally calls people in Brussels and says: 'Enough of this hypocrisy toward Serbia,' that is something truly impossible to achieve," Brnabić concluded.
