Dr. James Smith, an emergency medicine physician with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), shared harrowing data with Channel 4 that paints a picture of daily life in the area. According to him, nearly three years of constant crisis have left an indelible mark on the entire population.
Smith highlighted that approximately one million people urgently need some form of emergency shelter. Sanitation systems have completely collapsed, causing wastewater to flow freely through the streets across the Gaza Strip. "People are left to live in desperate conditions," Smith told the British broadcaster, as reported by Quds News Network.
One of the most alarming data points concerns the youngest. Every month, as many as 3,000 children are admitted to programs for treating acute malnutrition. At the same time, the security situation remains highly unstable. The MSF doctor notes that around 200 security incidents are recorded weekly, which he says are almost exclusively linked to Israeli military activities.
The total number of wounded Palestinians since the start of the conflict has risen to approximately 200,000. What is even more concerning is that Gaza now has the highest number of children with amputated limbs in the world. This staggering statistic bears witness to the long-term physical consequences that will mark an entire generation.
