Two Accidents on A1 and a 500-Meter Queue on A2

Two traffic accidents occurred on the A1 motorway between Jastrebarsko and Bosiljevo 2 southbound, causing queues and intermittent slowdowns on Sunday, August 9, 2026. The Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) also reports increased traffic on most roads leading to the coast.

At the Lučko toll plaza in both directions, as well as at the Demerje plaza towards Zagreb, there are currently no long waits. However, the pressure has shifted elsewhere: on the A2 Zagreb-Macelj motorway, near Trakošćan towards the capital, a queue about 500 meters long has formed.

Dog on A4, Spilled Liquid on A3

Unforeseen situations are further slowing traffic. Between Novi Marof and Breznički Hum, on the A4 Goričan-Zagreb motorway, a dog was spotted on the roadway, so traffic is moving in two lanes in both directions with a speed limit of 80 km/h.

Drivers must also observe the same speed limit on the A3 Bregana-Lipovac motorway, on the section between Lučko and Buzin towards Lipovac, where the road is contaminated with spilled liquid.

Slowdowns on the Coastal Highway, Bura Wind Threatens

The Adriatic Highway has not been spared either. Between Opuzen and Rogotin, traffic is moving slowly due to a traffic accident, while HAK simultaneously warns of possible restrictions for certain vehicle groups on roads in the sub-Velebit area, as the bura wind could also cause disruptions in maritime traffic.

Emergency Corridor Mandatory

As even heavier traffic towards the coast and inland is expected during the day, especially on motorways, HAK calls on all road users to exercise extra caution. Drivers are advised to adjust their speed and driving style to road conditions, maintain a safe following distance, and, in case of congestion, form an emergency corridor.

Due to increased traffic, longer waits are possible during the day at most border crossings, both for passenger and freight vehicles.
