ZAGREB - The Municipal Court in Novi Zagreb has issued a verdict finding 34-year-old electrician A. F. guilty of threatening his ex-partner S. in the Utrina settlement. However, despite the conviction, the abuser will not spend a day in prison as he received a suspended sentence of six months with a two-year probation period.
Attack at the Tram Stop
The incident occurred on March 20, 2026, at around 8:30 PM, when the victim was standing at a tram stop in Utrina. The attacker spotted her and immediately approached, yelling and threatening her. He threatened that he or his friend would come to her and spray her house with bullets.
"I'll watch all your acquaintances suffer while I kill them," A. F. shouted at his ex-girlfriend, according to the court's verdict.
Chase to the Café
The girl tried to flee from the attacker and sought refuge in a nearby café in Utrina. However, the man did not stop his erratic behavior and continued to follow her along Avenue Dubrovnik all the way to the café. There, he became even more aggressive, shouting terrifying words at her.
"B*tch, moron, I'll kill you and everyone around you," the man yelled at the girl.
Suspended Sentence Instead of Prison
The incident came to light after the verdict was published recently, although the event occurred back on March 20 this year. The judge at the Municipal Court in Novi Zagreb established his guilt, noting in the decision that the girl had reason to fear for her life due to the incident.
However, despite clearly proven guilt, the man will not spend a single day behind bars. The judge imposed a sentence of six months in prison, but with a suspended execution, meaning A. F. will only serve the sentence if he commits a new criminal offense within two years. The court deemed this verdict an appropriate punishment for the violent offender.
It should be noted that this is not a final verdict but a criminal order, so the 34-year-old can appeal it.
