It has been officially confirmed by security agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina that the information and communication system of the Foreigners Affairs Service was targeted in a hacker attack. According to N1 BiH, the attacker stole user credentials, which were then used to store and distribute stolen data.
Internal Investigation Due to Suspected Negligence
The Service stated that all actions are being taken to protect the data of citizens and employees. An internal investigation has also been launched because there is suspicion that, due to negligent work by certain employees, protective measures for the information system were not taken in a timely manner.
"We are taking all actions to protect the data of citizens and our employees. Given the seriousness of this finding, an internal investigation has been launched because there is suspicion that, due to negligent work by certain employees, protective measures for the information system of the Foreigners Affairs Service were not taken in a timely manner," reads the statement carried by N1 BiH.
Igman d.d. Konjic Defrauded of 780,000 Euros
In the same report, Klix.ba reminds that the company Igman d.d. Konjic recently fell victim to a computer fraud in which 780,000 euros were siphoned from its account. The fraud occurred during negotiations and the conclusion of deals with a company from Turkey, when a transaction number was sent from a nearly identical email address of one of the Turkish companies that has a contract for certain business with Igman.
The money intended for the Turkish company was paid into that account by Igman, and the problems were only discovered later.
