Singer Indira Levak will soon celebrate three decades on the music scene with a major concert at Zagreb's Arena. Ahead of the event, in a candid interview with Hype TV, she recalled her beginnings, fears, and the challenges she faced when she arrived in Zagreb from her hometown of Županja.

'Zagreb Was a Jungle to Me'

Although she is now one of the most recognizable faces in domestic music, Indira admits that arriving in the metropolis was daunting. "I still somehow see myself as that little Indira who came from the small town of Županja into the jungle. To me, Zagreb was a jungle. I wondered if I would survive here. I didn't know anyone. I had one suitcase in my hand. As I arrived, so I remained in my head. That is my greatest victory," Levak shared.

It is precisely this humility and strong connection to her roots that she highlights as her greatest triumph. "I'm proud of myself because money, fame, recognition, success... Absolutely nothing has changed me. The most important thing in this business is to remain a good person and stay grounded," she said.

Early Days Took a Toll on Health

The path to success was far from easy. The singer revealed that the harsh working conditions at the start of her career left a lasting mark, eventually affecting her health.

"I rarely think about it. Here we are, 30 years into my music career, and today the conditions on stage are phenomenal and everything is perfect. But when I remember the early days when you had to hide so the boss wouldn't see you... You'd show up with nothing and change in cold rooms, among crates. It took a bit of a toll on my health, but everything has its price," she recalled for Hype TV.

Despite all the obstacles, she emphasizes that every moment was worth the effort. "Everything has a price. You go out on the road, run a red light, and pay a fine. Behind me is a lot of work, a lot of ups and downs, and sacrifices," the singer concluded.
