The Wall Street Journal has reported estimates indicating that since late February, Iran has carried out more than 2,000 attacks on American military targets across the Middle East, damaging or destroying dozens of aircraft and facilities in eight countries.
Iran has inflicted up to $13 billion in damages to US equipment and facilities since the start of the American-Israeli military operation, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, citing its own estimates.
According to data relayed by the American newspaper and subsequently by the Russian state agency TASS, Tehran has conducted more than 2,000 aerial, missile, and drone attacks across the Middle East since February 28, when Washington and Tel Aviv launched Operation "Epic Fury."
In these attacks, at least 20 locations used by the US military, situated across eight different countries, have been damaged. In addition to infrastructure, Iran has damaged or destroyed more than 42 American military aircraft, mostly large drones but also fighter jets.
Detailed specifics about which countries are involved, as well as the locations of the affected bases, were not disclosed in the report.
The war between the US and Israel on one side and Iran on the other began on February 28, 2026. After months of fighting, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding in June that stipulated an immediate ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon.
The ceasefire, however, was short-lived. On July 8, the United States resumed massive airstrikes on Iran, accusing Tehran of violating previous agreements concerning control over the Strait of Hormuz. Energy producers in the Persian Gulf, as the Wall Street Journal notes, are increasingly concluding that Iranian control over this vital waterway will become permanent, fearing that the alternative-a return to war-would be even worse.
