Juventus has officially unveiled their new defensive addition. Jhon Lucumí, a 28-year-old Colombian center-back, has arrived from Bologna in a transfer worth over €20 million, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. The first photo of Lucumí in a Juventus shirt was released on August 17, 2026, alongside his agent Simone Rondanini from The Team agency.
Lucumí was coach Luciano Spalletti's top target to bolster the defense. Gazzetta dello Sport notes that he is a left-footed, physically strong player who particularly excels at building play from the back. The Colombian spent four years at Bologna, having previously played in the Belgian league.
Lucumí has 123 Serie A appearances, with one goal and three assists. In the 2025/26 season, he made 29 league appearances for Bologna, starting only four games from the bench for tactical reasons. He missed five matches due to a muscle injury and one suspension.
He also boasts extensive European experience: 18 appearances in the Europa League (one assist) and 13 in the Champions League, where he scored two goals and provided two assists. In the Belgian league, he recorded nine appearances, one goal, and two assists.
Gazzetta dello Sport describes Lucumí as a classic modern defender: physically strong, aggressive, and good at marking, but notes that he is not a major source of bonus points and that his impulsiveness can lead to yellow cards. Initially, he may sit behind Bremer in the pecking order, but he has all the qualities to earn a starting spot, especially given that Juventus compete in three competitions.
In Fantacampionato, Lucumí is valued at 21 credits, and Gazzetta recommends him as a second-slot profile, particularly if modifiers are used. In private auctions, investing around 4% of the budget is advised. His defensive competition includes Celik, Bremer, and Kelly.
