Summary
  • Croatia is hosting 1.1 million tourists at the peak of the season, with the most in Istria, Dalmatia, and Kvarner.
  • A tourist from Slovakia believes that prices in Ičići are more affordable compared to other destinations.
  • A German tourist warns that prices at some campsites reach €190 per night, which he compares to hotel accommodation.

Croatia is in the midst of the tourist peak season, and according to data from Dalmacija News, around 1.1 million tourists are currently vacationing in the country. The largest number of guests is staying in Istria, the Split area, and Kvarner, which have once again confirmed their status as the most sought-after summer destinations.

Traffic jams are part of the journey

The peak tourist weekend brought expectedly full destinations, but also increased traffic on the main roads leading to the coast. During the day, long queues of vehicles formed near Lučko, but many travelers consider the congestion a normal part of the trip to the sea.

Mixed experiences with prices

Once you arrive at the coast, the question that accompanies almost every tourist season resurfaces, prices. Andrea, who is from Slovakia and is currently staying in Ičići, said she is satisfied with the situation she found there.

It's cheaper here than at other locations, where prices were significantly higher. We are aware that it's the peak of the season and that prices have increased, said Andrea for Dalmacija News.

Henrik from Germany has a completely different experience, and he was particularly surprised by the prices at some Croatian campsites.

In some campsites, the price of accommodation is almost the same as the price of a hotel room. For one night, or one spot at a campsite in Croatia, we paid 190 euros, said Henrik for Dalmacija News.
