While the German electronic pioneers packed the ancient amphitheater on Tuesday evening, the historic core of Labin echoed with sounds from five different stages at the first edition of a new summer event.
Two musical events marked Tuesday, July 29, 2026 in Istria. While the German electronic pioneers Kraftwerk performed for the first time in their more than fifty-year career in Pula Arena, Labin simultaneously hosted the first edition of Labin Music Streets, a new event that brought its historic core to life.
Kraftwerk began their performance as part of their current 'Man Machine' tour, according to Tportal, with a striking stylized spaceship descending into the beautiful ancient structure. Pula Arena was, according to reports, solidly filled for the concert that lasted exactly two hours.
During that time, the band performed a well-rehearsed setlist of about twenty songs, with the encore reserved for the inevitable hit 'The Robots'. The audience also enjoyed classics such as 'Autobahn' and 'Computer Love', accompanied by the usual minimalist yet effective video wall projections.
The 'Man Machine' tour takes Kraftwerk primarily to locations where they have not performed in the last half-century. After playing in Nottingham, Veszprém, and Skopje, Pula became their new, premiere stop. The sound was at the expected impeccable level, as confirmed by enthusiastic visitors.
Several dozen kilometers to the northeast, in the historic core of Labin, the first edition of Labin Music Streets was taking place simultaneously. According to Glas Istre, the event met organizers' expectations, bringing liveliness to the city streets, smiles, and togetherness. The program took place at no fewer than five different locations, from the Welcome Music Point to stages dedicated to various music genres, from sixties folk, jazz, and pop rock to world music.
The excellent atmosphere was thanks to performances by the Metanoia duo, the Déjà vu acoustic duo, the duo Saša Zorkić and Aleksandar Lukić, the duo Toni Peruško and Toni Drandić, and MArt Martin. Their diverse repertoires delighted visitors and filled the streets with music, confirming the event's potential to become a beautiful summer tradition.
The organizers, the Tourist Board of the City of Labin and the Kire crafts shop, thanked the performers, the audience, and everyone who contributed to the realization. Judging by the large turnout and excellent atmosphere, the event is well on its way to becoming established. The next edition of Labin Music Streets is scheduled for August 24, 2026.
