The City of Zagreb has begun disbursing cash benefits for August 2026. The method of payment depends on whether the beneficiary receives the benefit via a current account or through Croatian Post, and citizens have been informed via the City's official Facebook page.
Payments for beneficiaries with open current accounts started on Monday, August 17, 2026. For those receiving benefits through Croatian Post, payments are being made from Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
Pensioners who have not received their benefit at their home address can collect it at post offices within ten days from the start of the payment period. After this deadline, retroactive payment is not possible.
According to the Social Welfare Decision adopted by the Zagreb City Assembly, the right to a cash benefit is granted to pensioners who are Croatian citizens and have resided continuously in the City of Zagreb for at least 5 years before submitting their application. Their total income must be equal to or less than €350.00 per month.
Pensioners are classified into four groups based on the amount of their pension or total income:
In addition to pensioners, the City of Zagreb provides cash benefits to other beneficiaries. This group includes those receiving funds to cover additional health insurance costs, individuals entitled to an allowance for care and assistance, and those receiving a personal disability allowance.
Also eligible are individuals with the status of parent caregiver or caregiver, residents of nursing homes entitled to a personal allowance, persons with disabilities using organized housing services, and beneficiaries of the national old-age allowance, child allowance, and inclusion allowance.
