Dominik Livaković is at the center of a transfer story that has surprised even Turkish journalists. The Croatian international is reportedly a target for Barcelona, and the news has hit Turkey like a bombshell. Livaković is determined to leave Fenerbahçe, where he is no longer the first-choice goalkeeper.
The Turkish giant, however, is unwilling to let the Croatian goalkeeper go for less than four million euros. That amount is simply too high for Dinamo, which had already been mentioned as the first option for his return. The Zagreb club has for now withdrawn from negotiations because their offers did not satisfy Fenerbahçe.
The first information about Barcelona's interest was published by Turkish journalist Ferudun Nigdelioglu. "Barcelona wants to bring Dominik Livaković into their ranks. Fenerbahçe could pocket up to four million euros from this transfer," Nigdelioglu stated.
The news sounded unbelievable to many, but it was soon confirmed by Ertan Suzgun, one of the more reliable Turkish journalists. "I received the same information about Livaković and Barcelona. I was in shock," Suzgun announced, as reported by Večernji list.
Livaković thus finds himself in an unexpected situation after a turbulent few years. He moved from Dinamo to Fenerbahçe, lost his place in the team, went on loan to Girona, and then returned to Dinamo. Now the possibility of a transfer to one of the world's biggest clubs has emerged.
A potential move to Barcelona would also raise the question of playing time. At Barcelona, Joan Garcia is currently the first choice in goal, so Livaković would be the second choice. That is a significant factor because the Croatian goalkeeper wants to resolve his situation as soon as possible and return to regular action.
Livaković's agent, Andy Bara, plans to go to Istanbul again to try to find a solution. Dinamo remains one of the options, although time is running out. It is not yet known whether Livaković will go to Barcelona or return to Maksimir.
While the transfer saga continues, Dinamo is focusing on domestic duties. On Saturday, August 22, at 9 PM at Maksimir, the 4th round match of the SuperSport HNL against NK Varaždin will be played. Tickets are already on sale, and club members had priority from Wednesday, August 19, at 11 AM until Thursday, August 20, at 10 AM.
The West lower tier costs €15 for members and €20 for other fans, while the North lower tier is exclusively for members at €7. After the match against Varaždin, the Blues travel to Norway in pursuit of a victory worthy of the Champions League.
