On Sunday, just after midnight, a brutal attack in the very heart of Belgrade shocked the public. An 18-year-old, identified as A. M., was attacked and stabbed with a knife by two girls, one of whom is only 13 years old, on Braće Krsmanović Street.
The victim sustained stab wounds, and the attackers fled the scene, leaving her bleeding. A large-scale search was quickly launched, involving officers from the Savski Venac police station and the Criminal Investigation Police Administration (UKP-KOA). As reported by Telegraf.rs, investigators were particularly stunned by the ages of the suspects, who were only 13 and 15 at the time of the attack.
What further shocked investigators is that the minor attackers tried to cover their tracks after the assault. They broke the knife used to stab A. M. and discarded its pieces in the area of Belgrade's Stari Grad. According to Telegraf, the girls deliberately broke the weapon to hinder the investigation. However, police officers quickly responded, found the broken knife, and seized it as key physical evidence in the case.
Due to suspicion of committing the criminal offense of violent behavior, the 15-year-old girl was quickly arrested. By order of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, she was questioned in a regular procedure, in the presence of her parents. As Telegraf reports, police quickly identified both suspects through field operations.
The other participant in the attack is only 13 years old and, under Serbian law, is not criminally responsible. She will be interviewed, also in the presence of her parents, and the entire case has been urgently forwarded to the Center for Social Work for further action. The case has drawn significant public attention in Serbia, and details of the brutality of the attack and the ages of the perpetrators continue to resonate in the media.
