The influencer, born in Šibenik, has come under fire after posting a TikTok video that many users deemed inappropriate in the context of the devastating wildfires in Dalmatia.
Influencer Meri Banovac faced a wave of criticism this week after posting a TikTok video featuring an audio track that many users deemed highly inappropriate. Many felt the content was not suitable given the recent major wildfires in Dalmatia and the tragedy that affected numerous people.
After the video was posted, Meri apologized and stated that she had no intention of mocking the tragedy or those who experienced it. The wider public got to know her in the sixth season of the show MasterChef, where she stood out for her quirky humor and openness.
She was born in Šibenik and has moved around a lot in her life, having lived in various cities in Croatia as well as in Denmark and Sweden. Before entering the popular culinary competition show, she worked as a marketing specialist.
She herself revealed that before the show began, she had around 30,000 followers, and by the end of MasterChef's airing, that number had grown to approximately 80,000. She currently has 217,000 followers on Instagram and is also known for frequently sharing personal life updates with her fans.
Meri has not hidden the cosmetic procedures she has undergone. She has spoken candidly about the changes to her appearance, and once even answered many questions from followers who wanted to know which procedures she had done.
Among the surgeries she has publicly admitted to is breast augmentation. She spoke about this operation without any sugarcoating and emphasized that it was her own decision. In addition, she also had a nose job, and as she explained, the reason was not purely aesthetic but also had a health component.
She also admitted to using lip fillers, but at one point decided to have them removed because they had migrated from where they were originally injected. She later had them redone, but with a smaller amount.
