Actor Momčilo Otašević took to social media to warn the public about a scam involving the misuse of his identity. An unknown person created a fake TikTok profile, posing as the actor and extorting money from people.
Otašević posted a photo of the fraudulent account on his Instagram profile and urged his followers not to fall for the scam attempts. "IMPORTANT!!! A fake profile on TikTok is deceiving people and extorting money!!! Please, anyone with TikTok, report it! Don't fall for it," the actor wrote.
To make the scam more convincing, the unknown person sent detailed messages to potential victims. Otašević also shared an email that a woman received from the fake account. In it, the fake profile presents itself as the "Momčilo Otašević Acting Foundation" and invites participation in the "Next Big Star" program.
"Dear Madam, thank you for reaching out to us. On behalf of the Momčilo Otašević Acting Foundation, we are pleased to formally guide you through the 'Next Big Star' program, which is conducted directly under the patronage of Momčilo Otašević," the fraudulent message states. It further requests the submission of personal documents and materials, promising the allocation of a filming location.
This is not the first time Otašević has found himself in the media spotlight. Kurir.rs reminds that in 2023, the actor was at the center of a scandal after media reported he had installed a listening device in the apartment of his former partner, Jelena Perčin.
Although Perčin later dropped the criminal charges, the proceedings were not halted. A social worker, whose private conversation the actor allegedly recorded without authorization on his mobile phone during mandatory counseling before the divorce, has maintained her lawsuit and is seeking €10,000 in damages from him.
At the hearing, Otašević stated that he understands the accusations but does not feel guilty. His attorney, Imon Čoudhuri, requested that the public be excluded from the trial to protect the privacy of the actor's children, but the court rejected the motion. During the proceedings, it was also noted that the actor holds dual citizenship and has a monthly income of around €5,000. After the trial, Otašević decided to withdraw from the entire situation and take a break from the pressure that accompanied the whole case.
