The Ministry of the Interior (MUP) confirmed on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, that disciplinary proceedings will be initiated against a police officer from the Pleternica Police Station. The decision came after an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behavior that had surfaced in public in recent weeks.
"The Požega-Slavonia Police Department conducted an investigation into the allegations. The checks carried out established reasonable suspicion that a police officer from the Pleternica Police Station committed a serious breach of official duty, and disciplinary proceedings will be initiated against him," reads the MUP's response, as reported by the portal Požeški.hr.
What happened in the official vehicle?
The alarm about the scandalous events was first raised in mid-July 2026 by Telegram journalist Drago Hedl. According to his unofficial information at the time, several MUP officers from the Požega-Slavonia County area had, on multiple occasions during working hours, engaged in sexual relations with a woman, and this took place in an official police car.
Hedl wrote about three police officers and one woman, but the latest response from the MUP indicates that disciplinary proceedings are being conducted against only one police officer. The Ministry's official statement did not specify which specific behavior the suspicion of a serious breach of official duty refers to, nor was the involvement of multiple individuals confirmed.
How was the affair uncovered?
According to earlier reports by Telegram, the whole case came to light after a report of domestic violence in the town where the woman in question lives. Her husband had taken her phone, and she then asked a neighbor to call 112. When the police patrol arrived, the husband warned them that the phone contained compromising recordings.
The officers seized the phone, and upon reviewing the content, they were reportedly stunned to recognize their colleagues in explicit photographs. Telegram's source at the time claimed there were attempts to cover up the case, but as the compromising images began to spread uncontrollably, the incident could no longer be concealed.
The MUP has not yet provided further details about the case, as the disciplinary proceedings have yet to be formally initiated. According to information from the portal Požeški.hr, the allegations being checked were related to the relationship between a police officer and a woman from the Požega-Slavonia County area. Additionally, police sources have identified the woman and the three officers allegedly involved, but the MUP has not officially confirmed these claims. During July, in response to Telegram's inquiry, the Požega-Slavonia Police Department stated that it was not conducting a police investigation but was checking the behavior of one officer. "We inform you that the Požega-Slavonia Police Department is not conducting a police investigation regarding the allegations referred to in your inquiry. At the same time, checks are underway regarding allegations of possible inappropriate behavior by one police officer," the police responded at the time, and these checks have now resulted in the initiation of disciplinary proceedings.
