After instilling fear and anxiety in the victim, they demand an urgent payment for alleged medical and surgical costs. In some cases, citizens are not only asked for cash but also for gold or other valuables.
The goal is to exploit emotional shock and prevent the victim from thinking rationally or verifying the information. The perpetrators count on citizens, driven by concern for their loved ones, to act hastily and hand over the requested valuables without checking.
The Ministry of the Interior appeals to citizens not to act impulsively when receiving such calls. They emphasize the importance of verifying all claims made during the call, either by directly contacting family members or by calling a healthcare facility or the competent police station. Any suspicious case should be reported to the police without delay.
