Croatian-Serbian citizen Bogoljub M. (26) reached a plea deal with USKOK after being arrested in late April with 11 packages of cocaine and British pounds in his vehicle.
Croatian-Serbian citizen Bogoljub M. (26), an economics technician by profession, was sentenced to five years and three months in prison after being stopped at the Bajakovo border crossing in late April this year with 10.5 kilograms of cocaine in his vehicle. The case was resolved through a plea agreement with USKOK, and the time he has spent in custody since May 1, 2026, will be credited toward his sentence.
On April 30, 2026, at 10:12 PM, Bogoljub M. arrived at the Bajakovo border crossing driving a VW Passat with UK license plates. Acting on a court order, police searched the vehicle and found 11 packages containing a total of 10.5 kilograms of cocaine in the trunk, hidden under the rear seat. In addition to the drugs, British pounds suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking were also seized.
According to the USKOK indictment, Bogoljub M. had picked up the drugs on the same day at around 6:50 PM in the Vukovar-Srijem County area from an unknown person. Prior to that, he had arranged in Serbia to procure and take delivery of the cocaine in Croatia, intending to transport it back to Serbia.
USKOK's investigation established that Bogoljub M. was part of a criminal association that operated from November 2025 to April 30, 2026, across Serbia, Croatia, and several other EU countries. The group, along with still unidentified individuals, continuously procured, transported, and resold large quantities of cocaine to pre-arranged buyers.
Following his arrest, Bogoljub M. was detained and faced two criminal charges: unauthorized production and trafficking of drugs, and money laundering. Realizing he faced a lengthy prison term, he decided to strike a plea deal with the prosecution as soon as the indictment was filed.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered the destruction of the seized drugs and the confiscation of one mobile phone and an Apple tracker found in the drug sample. Two mobile phones and a seized ID card must be returned to Bogoljub M. He also must pay €2,246 in court costs, the largest portion of which covers the toxicological analysis conducted by the "Ivan Vučetić" Forensic Science Centre. These costs will be offset against the 1,940 British pounds seized at the time of his arrest.
It remains unknown whether the rest of the crew in Serbia has been arrested in the meantime, nor how much money Bogoljub M. was supposed to receive for the transport. It is also unclear whether the cocaine buyers had already paid for the drugs, which will now be destroyed in the furnaces of the Nexe company in Našice.
