  • The first joint campaign by the CNTB and Booking.com for family renters achieved over eight million views and nearly 500 bookings.
  • Tourism Minister Tonči Glavina reported a six percent increase in occupancy and announced further legislative changes for the sector.
  • The project has gathered more than 3,570 properties with over 21,170 beds, with Istria, Kvarner, and Split-Dalmatia County leading the way.
  • A second wave of promotion is planned for the domestic market from mid-August to the end of October 2026.

The Local Host campaign, jointly carried out by the Croatian National Tourist Board (CNTB) and Booking.com, resulted in over eight million views and nearly 500 bookings. The campaign focused on real hosts with the "Your Host" label, highlighting the personal touch and authentic experience offered by staying in private accommodation.

The activity, named "Experience the Real Croatia," took place in June and July 2026 and targeted five key markets: Germany, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. Given that these regions traditionally send a large number of visitors, the results are an important signal for further strengthening the position of quality family accommodation among European travelers.

Occupancy Growth and Concrete Support Measures

Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina emphasized that Local Host is just one segment of broader efforts to protect authentic family accommodation. He added that this type of offering has been building Croatian tourism for generations and gives it special value. He noted that initial indicators point to a six percent increase in occupancy.

Holders of the "Your Host" label this year, for the first time, received targeted support through the Tourism Economy Competitiveness Program. Glavina also mentioned that renters offering services at their place of residence are not subject to the real estate tax, and legislative adjustments are planned to make the entire system more transparent, fairer, and more stable in the long term.

Over 3,500 Properties with the Label

So far, the project has gathered more than 3,570 accommodation units, with a total capacity exceeding 21,170 beds. The largest number of properties with the label is located in Istria, Kvarner, and Split-Dalmatia County. By destination, the leading positions are held by Crikvenica, Dubrovnik, Pula, Rovinj, and Medulin.

Kristjan Staničić, Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board, assessed that the campaign on Booking.com proved the importance of the entire project for the international promotion of Croatian family accommodation. He stressed that the achieved visibility and expressed guest interest create a foundation for stronger market profiling of hosts, as well as for the continuation of activities after the main part of the season ends.

New Wave of Promotion on the Domestic Market

The next phase of promotion will take place on home turf, from mid-August until the end of October 2026. The intention is to further highlight hosts with the label who, through their hospitality, shape a special experience of Croatia. This would continue to build the recognition of quality private accommodation beyond the peak summer demand period.

The "Your Host" label can be requested by renters who, according to current regulations, have host status and meet the set conditions, including authenticity of the offer, level of hospitality, environmental awareness, and quality of communication with guests. Given the continuous growth in the number of included properties, this label could become one of the decisive criteria for tourists seeking a more direct connection with the local community.
