Zagreb police arrested a 26-year-old driver who was stopped on Savska Road during a nighttime patrol on Friday, August 7, 2026, at around 11:50 PM. The check revealed that he had gotten behind the wheel despite having his driver's license previously revoked and canceled, and a subsequent breathalyzer test measured a blood alcohol concentration of 0.74 grams per kilogram.
Police officers stopped a passenger car with Zagreb license plates during a routine traffic control. They determined that the young man was driving while his license was revoked due to negative penalty points accumulated from previous traffic offenses. Because of the combination of driving without a license and under the influence of alcohol, the police did not just issue a citation but arrested the driver and brought him before the competent Municipal Misdemeanor Court in Zagreb.
In the indictment proposal, the Zagreb police requested that the 26-year-old be found guilty and fined 3,310 euros. A protective measure banning him from driving B-category vehicles for 12 months was also proposed. The court accepted the proposal to find him guilty but imposed a slightly lower fine of 2,469.64 euros. At the same time, the requested protective measure was fully accepted, so the driver will be without the right to drive a car for the next year.
This case once again illustrates the consequences that driving without a license can have, especially when combined with alcohol consumption. The driver's license had already been revoked due to accumulated negative points, but he still got behind the wheel. The nighttime check ended with an arrest, court proceedings, and a hefty fine, along with an extended period of driving prohibition.
